Cars are getting smarter. METRO continues to look to the future of transportation. We are entering an era of automotive and environmental changes that are reshaping our cities. The future of automotive technology is the autonomous vehicle. METRO endeavors to provide the technology coupled with a pursuit of safety for all commuters.
METRO, Texas Southern University and the Houston-Galveston Area Council came together on a joint project to provide the TSU campus with an autonomous shuttle. Because the technology is so new, the operation of the vehicle is a research and planning exercise. The TSU AV shuttle pilot project began operations in June.
